FAQ

Q: Where are your teachers from?
A: All our teachers are professionally qualified native Croatian speakers.

Q: Where are most of your Skype students from?
A: Our students are global. We have many students from Europe, North America & Canada, as well as Australia. We also have students who participate in our classroom training in London and augment their Croatian language education with Skype.

Q: What type of people study Croatian with Skype?
A: Our students come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and come to CLS with very different reasons for learning the language - some are professionals that need to know the language before relocating to Croatia; others have a personal interest for learning the language, such as property ownership there, or regaining contact with relations and some are just curious about the language and culture. Whatever your reason for learning, CLS will adapt the tuition to suit your needs.

Q: What level of Croatian should a student have to take lessons with Skype?
A: Any level of learner is welcome. We will create a training program to suit all levels of students.

Q: How long are the classes and what are the available times?
A: Lessons last 50 minutes. We offer lessons between 8am and 7pm GMT however we will always try and work with the student's schedule if we can accommodate this outside of our stated hours. We require at least 24 hours' notice for the arrangement of lessons.

Q: What type of training program do you offer?
A: The teacher and student will agree on the format of lessons based on the existing level of the student and their aims. Materials used during the lesson vary and sometimes text books are suitable if a student is following a specific program.

Q: How is taking an online lesson different from a traditional classroom lesson?
A: Foremost, the environment is wherever you choose it to be - you could be learning in the comfort of your home, at the office during lunch or from a hotel while on business. It offers complete flexibility since you do not have to be concerned with finding a mutually acceptable location with your teacher as would happen in a traditional classroom set-up.

Q: What if I am late for a lesson?
A: Ideally lessons should start punctually. If you are late, we can only allow for 10 minutes' delay as the teacher can have another student waiting to start after you.

Q: Will I have homework?
A: Yes, generally homework preparation takes from 30 minutes to 1 hour. This is determined between the teacher and the student.

Q: Do I need a high-speed internet connection?
A: YES it would be preferable to have a high-speed connection.
