We value interpersonal relationships as a key part of our teaching and learning strategy, and an important part of our success. It is the qualifications and experience of our native-speaking teachers, and the results they achieve with a wide variety of students, each with different needs and abilities, that set us apart.

We do not use AI at all to deliver our lessons and courses or in the material used for such purposes, although we may use AI occasionally to research contemporary subjects of interest.

We use AI, carefully and in moderation, to assist in the preparation of content for our website and social media as we believe it can be a useful tool to support creativity, research and communication. However, it is our own knowledge, experience and editorial judgement that guide everything we publish.

Occasionally, where suitable original photographs or other images are not available, we may also use AI to create representative images to illustrate our articles and social media posts.

Human Expertise and Editorial Control

Our content is informed by our extensive knowledge of Croatia, its language, culture, history and traditions. We also draw on many years of experience teaching Croatian as a foreign language and our understanding of the importance of cultural context in making language learning relevant, interesting and meaningful.

We retain full editorial control over the subjects we cover, the direction of our research, the information we present and the final content we publish.

Our expertise also guides how we use AI, including the development and refinement of prompts, the evaluation of results and the identification of information requiring further verification.

AI supports our work; it does not replace our experience, judgement or editorial responsibility.

Images and Illustrations

Where we use AI-generated images, these are intended to illustrate or represent a subject rather than to document an actual event, person or location.

We aim to ensure that such images are appropriate to their context and endeavour to be transparent about their origins where there might otherwise be confusion.

Respect for Intellectual Property

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect the same respect for our own original content.

We endeavour to use photographs, illustrations, text and other materials only where we have the appropriate rights or permissions, and we do not knowingly use AI to reproduce or imitate protected works without authorisation.

We also recognise the importance of protecting our own original writing, photography, research and other creative work.

Our Commitment

Our aim is to use emerging technology responsibly and transparently, while maintaining the accuracy, authenticity, editorial and educational standards that underpin The Croatian Language School.

AI is a tool that can support our work, where appropriate, but it is our people and their knowledge, experience and expertise that lead and remain at the heart of, everything we do.
